Choti Diwali Main Diwali
Choti Diwali, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi, is the second day of the five-day long Diwali festival. This day is dedicated to Lord Krishna's victory over the demon king Narakasura, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. On this day, people clean their homes and decorate them with diyas (oil lamps) and rangoli (colorful patterns made on the floor). They also burst firecrackers and enjoy festive meals. In some regions, a ritual bath before sunrise, known as Abhyang Snan, is also a significant part of the celebrations.
Main Diwali, also known as Deepavali or the Festival of Lights, is the most significant day of the Diwali festival. It is celebrated on the new moon day of the Hindu month Kartik. On this day, people light diyas and candles in their homes and public spaces to symbolize the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. They worship the goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. The celebrations also include feasting on sweets and delicacies, exchanging gifts, and bursting firecrackers.
