Keep the amount modest
A modest, short offering in an appropriate holder can suffice for a household that burns incense. Thick smoke can create discomfort and obscure the surroundings near a flame. Increasing smoke does not enhance the effectiveness of the worship.
Consider everyone sharing the room
Inquire about fragrance preferences and refrain from burning products near individuals sensitive to smoke. Choosing a scent-free worship area is entirely appropriate. Good ventilation and unobstructed exits are more effective than attempting to confine smoke for a presumed intensified impact.
Use products as intended
Place hot burners on heat-resistant surfaces, keeping them away from curtains, food, and children. Do not use improvised mixtures or large, loose amounts. Let ash and holders cool completely before handling or disposing of them.
Create atmosphere in other ways
Fresh flowers, a clean cloth, and a well-known devotional song can create a celebratory atmosphere without burning anything. Select elements that promote focus and comfort, and describe purification in terms of spiritual significance rather than as a health or environmental assertion.
