Krishna then lifted Mount Govardhan, providing shelter to the villagers from the rain. This act made people realize that it's not the Gods but their duties and responsibilities that should be their priority.
How to Celebrate Goverdhan Puja is celebrated by preparing a variety of vegetarian dishes which are offered to Lord Krishna. An idol of Govardhan is made from cow dung and decorated with flowers. Devotees walk around the idol, singing and dancing. In temples, devotees prepare "Chappan Bhog" which is a spread of 56 dishes, offered to God. After the prayers, these dishes are distributed among the devotees.
