Day 1 Shailputri (Daughter of the Mountains)
The first day is dedicated to Shailputri, the daughter of the Himalayas. She is a form of Shakti, the companion of Lord Shiva.
Day 2 Brahmacharini
On the second day, the goddess is worshipped as Brahmacharini. In this form, Parvati became Sati, her unmarried self. Brahmacharini is worshipped for emancipation or moksha and endowment of peace and prosperity.
Day 3 Chandraghanta
Chandraghanta is the form of Goddess Parvati after getting married to Lord Shiva. She is worshipped for peace, tranquility and prosperity in life.
Day 4 Kushmanda
Kushmanda is the form of the goddess when she started living inside the sun. The glow and radiance of her body is as luminous as that of the sun.
Day 5 Skandamata
Skandamata, the goddess worshipped on Panchami, is the mother of Skanda (or Kartikeya). The color Grey is symbolic of the transforming strength of a mother when her child is confronted with danger.
Day 6 Katyayani
Born to sage Katyayana, she is an incarnation of Durga and is shown to exhibit courage which is symbolized by the color Orange. Known as the warrior goddess, she is considered one of the most violent forms of Goddess Parvati.
Day 7 Kalaratri
This is the most ferocious form of Goddess Durga, dark and fierce. She made her skin color dark to kill demons Shumbha and Nishumbha.
Day 8 Mahagauri
Mahagauri symbolizes intelligence and peace. The color Pink denotes hope and a fresh start.
Day 9 Siddhidatri
Siddhidatri is the form of Goddess Durga that blesses all Gods, saints, yogis, tantrics and all devotees as a manifestation of the Mother Goddess. The color Sky Blue is the symbol for the appreciation of nature's beauty.
